Another classic post that was lost during the transfer:
I recently took a trip out to Amador County to visit a friend (who was up visiting from San Diego, if that isn’t too confusing for all of you). And there were animals aplenty to take photos of! While there, we visited my friend’s sister’s ranch to feed the feral cats and pick some of the (over-) ripening fruit.
This peach tree was so heavy with ripe fruit one of its branches broke off!

These are possibly Zinfandel or Muscat grapes. And ready for the winery!!

We then visited a few of the local wineries in Amador, starting with Sobon Estates. There, we were greeted by the winery cat. He was very friendly.
And showed little regard for the rules.

Then there were all my friend’s family’s pets. This guy was named Bug. Notice the little piece missing in the corner of his ear. You can tell he’s an outside cat. He also accompanied us while we walked the dogs around the neighborhood.
Bug and his kitty friend, Sophie (aka Tubby).

There were also the dogs Bear (Who’s quite the guard dog until he realizes you’re a friend, then he doesn’t care one bit. I arrived at my friend’s place while they were out and he barked for about 15 minutes straight. Then when they got back, he was never aggressive to me again) and his lady friend (in the background), Grizz.
Before dinner, we went to my friend’s aunt’s home where there were even more animals! First, the bird that could mimic virtually any noise! And swear!
And more country kittehs!!

Oh yeah, and deer! We’re talkin’ the country here, folks!!

All in all a good trip. Also, with cats popping up left and right from out of nowhere, I learned I’m quite the cat whisperer, something that will no doubt aid me in my glamour pet-ography endeavors!
This is a former post I was particularly proud of!
I have this habit of calling nearly every animal I come into contact with either “Fatty” or “Tubby,” and this weekend I learned that’s not always a good thing. Although, it’s not necessarily a bad thing either. While visiting friends in Amador County — friends who have four cats (at least) and two dogs — I met the cutest little kitty I’ve ever laid eyes on.
Now, since Amador is kind of “country,” these cats are indoor and outdoor cats. As such, there’s a cat door installed on the kitchen door that leads outside so the cats can come and go as they please. One cat, Bug — a real tomcat — you’ve already met. And, well, the other kitty, you’ve sort of met too.
Her name is Sophie and she’s almost an exact twin of Maru, except she doesn’t live in Japan or jump in and out of boxes — well, not to the extent Maru does. And she’s simply adorable!
Shortly after arriving at my friends’ place (lots of winding, country roads, but a scenic drive nonetheless), little Sophie scurried into the living room from the kitchen, and my exact words were, “Well hello, Tubby!!”
Everyone in the room responded with laughter and consolation for poor Sophie, as though I had really intended to insult her. See, for me, words like “Tubby” and “Fatty” are terms of endearment for my friends’ and my pets. And, really, how could you not call her “Tubby” with that little head, stubby legs, and plump, round body.
She was so adorable, I wish I could have taken her home with me. But instead, I snapped a few pictures of her. By the way, she would run away after almost every photo I took (my camera is silent except for when the shutter trips, and that sound alone scared her away). She was quite the challenge, but I think I was able to capture all her cuteness during my stay in Amador.
So, if I should ever call your little cat or dog “Tubby” or “Fatty,” just know I mean absolutely no harm. It’s just another way for me to connect with your special little guy or gal!!
Met this little cutey this week while hanging out at my cousins in Hayward. Look at her pretty green eyes! They really match the scenery at her house! And that stare. This one is a born hunter. I can tell!

Please be patient as we relaunch our website and galleries! Plenty of glamour pets to come!!
